     Asian cuisine is delicious, however, a major component of many Asian recipes is soy sauce.  Soy sauce poses a problem for individuals who are unable to have wheat in their diet.  Many people substitute wheat-free tamari for soy sauce and that is great, but unfortunateIy there are those few who can consume neither wheat nor soy.

Miner's Lettuce

     On a recent visit to Vancouver Island, I had the pleasure of gathering and feasting on one of my favorite potherbs, the often overlooked, Miner's Lettuce.  I love the mild taste and texture of this wild green! 

     Indigenous to North America, Miner's Lettuce can be found growing in moist, shaded areas of British Columbia in the Spring.  This plant is easily identified by it's unique leaf shape and flowers.
